Privacy Policy — CHIRP-Go (AT878Sync)
Effective date: August 24, 2026
CHIRP-Go ("the app") is a radio-programming utility for the AnyTone AT-878, and in the
future other amateur radios, developed by David ODell.
Data Collection
The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. It does not use
analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services of any kind.
What Data the App Handles
- Radio channel and configuration data, read from your radio over a wired USB (OTG)
connection, is stored locally on your device only so you can view and
edit it before choosing to write it back to the radio.
- This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to any server, cloud service,
or third party. The app has no backend server of its own.
Permissions
- USB host access — required to communicate with your radio over the
OTG programming cable. Used only for that purpose.
- Internet access — currently unused by any feature in the app. It is
declared in preparation for a planned future feature (looking up nearby repeaters via
RepeaterBook.com using your own RepeaterBook
API key). This policy will be updated with the specifics of what is transmitted before
that feature ships.
Data Retention and Deletion
All app data is stored in the app's own private storage on your device. Uninstalling the
app, or using the app's "Exit" action, deletes this data. Nothing is retained anywhere
else.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Changes to This Policy
This policy will be updated if the app's data practices change (for example, when
RepeaterBook integration is added), and the effective date above will be updated
accordingly.
